Cos’hanno in comune Harry Potter, Vogue, Il Libro Della Giungla, Amnesty International, Guerre Stellari, Moleskine, Jurassic Park, Valentino e Sammontana?

L’evento, totalmente gratuito e in lingua inglese, sarà introdotto da Carmela Callea, Direttrice dell’Istituto, e moderato dall’animatrice Tess Martin.

Uncovering the world of Animation

Harry Potter, Vogue, The Jungle Book, Amnesty International, Star Wars, Moleskine, Jurassic Park, Valentino: what do they have in common?

The answer hides behind a millimetric trait.

It’s the drawing of the fantasy.

It’s La Vita Animata (Animated Life), coming from a thought, a pen, a pencil, a piece of paper or a graphic tablet. It’s the Italian creativity, combined with technical knwoledge and willingness to play.

These are the ingredients mixed up together on the occasion of the event taking place next Saturday 25 November, at the Italian Institute of Culture in Amsterdam. Animation lovers, insiders, curious people and kids from 14 years old are welcome to join.

The event will be held in English language and it is totally free of charge. Director Callea will make a short introduction, whilst Animator Tess Martin will be moderator. Animation experts Sarah Arduini, Cesare Davolio and Virgilio Villoresi will bring us into the magic world of the animation.

Sarah lives in London, she works with Industrial Light and Magic Company, the agency who created special effects for Star Wars, Harry Potter and Jurassic Park.

Cesare is illustrator, animator and teacher at Willem de Kooning Academy of Art and Design in Rotterdam. He is well known also for a cartoon for Amnesty International.

Virgilio lives in Milan, he’s an independent animator and he gets inspired by Georges Méliès, founder of the first film company in 1896. Virgilio works in Advertising; in his portfolio there are brands like Valentino, Moleskine and Vogue.

Sarah, Cesare and Virgilio will share their stories and they will answer to all your questions about the animation world: how to become animator? How to succeed in this field? How to animate a drawing?

Actually every character is the result of a huge work that sometimes requires unbelievable professional expertise and experts. Mathematician Ian Stewart says: “The first computer animated movie, Toy Story, caused at least 20 publications on maths.”

Then, are we sure that animation is just a drawing?

Come and answer this question on the 25 of November, when all the secrets will be uncovered.

La Vita Animata is organized in collaboration with IPN Italian Professional Netherlands. To participate, please subscribe within November 23, by sending an email at ipn.eventi@gmail.com, with name, surname, and the tag ANIMAZ in the subject.
